School holidays bring a packed agenda of options for everyone. From water games in Campanet to an astronomy workshop in Palma, the island offers both free and paid alternatives to enjoy with family.

This weekend, Mallorca becomes a playground for children with activities ranging from science to cinema. The offerings, according to the municipal and cultural activities programme, include both free events and paid options, designed to entertain the little ones and, in turn, the adults accompanying them.

Water Games at the Campanet Festivals

On Saturday, July 11, the Festes de Sant Victorià in Campanet dedicate the morning to children. The municipal pool will host various water games, a way to beat the heat while participating in the municipality's celebrations.

The activity, according to the official programme from the Town Hall, is free and does not require prior registration. It is recommended to bring swimwear, sunscreen, a towel, and footwear that can get wet. The event starts at 10:30 AM.

Stop Motion Cinema in Palma

CineCiutat will screen Lola i el piano trencaclosques, a French stop motion animated short film. The story follows a girl who seeks ways to communicate with her brother Simón, a child on the autism spectrum, through drawing, dance, and music.

The film, which lasts 57 minutes, is suitable for all audiences and will be shown dubbed in Catalan. It is an ideal option for a first cinematic experience for the little ones. The session begins at 11:00 AM, and tickets cost 5 euros (4 euros for members).

Astronomy Workshop at CaixaForum Palma

In the afternoon, CaixaForum Palma offers the family workshop In Search of the Eclipse. Attendees will learn how eclipses occur using a model of the Sun-Earth-Moon system and will use the Stellarium program to simulate them.

Additionally, they will create a solar projection camera that they can take home. The activity is aimed at families with children aged eight and above. The schedule and price have not been specified in the source, but it is recommended to check the centre's website.

More Options for Sunday

On Sunday, the offerings are complemented with other activities. In the same vein of family entertainment, the programme includes outdoor and indoor proposals, tailored to different ages and interests.

For nature lovers, a hike through the Serra de Tramuntana is suggested, with marked routes suitable for children. There are also options for art workshops in various municipalities, such as the pottery workshop in Felanitx, where children can shape their own creations.

Regarding gastronomy, several restaurants offer children's menus at affordable prices, such as the Little Chef Menu at the restaurant Es Racó d'es Teix in Deià, for 12 euros.

For those who prefer to stay at home, platforms like Netflix and Disney+ are releasing children's content this weekend, including the new season of Bluey, which is now available.

In short, Mallorca is embracing families this weekend, proving that there is life beyond the beach and the pool. And if the weather is nice, even better.
