The Summer Carnival of Campanet, organised by Sa Llengua Bona, gathered hundreds of people in the main square this Saturday. Rafel Pons and Catarina Rebassa, chosen as 'l'Amo and sa Madona', delivered a speech filled with criticism and humour.

The Summer Carnival of Campanet has coloured the streets of the municipality this Saturday, marking the start of the summer festivities. The association Sa Llengua Bona was responsible for organising an event that brought together young people from the town and other villages on the island.

The individuals chosen by popular vote to embody l'Amo and sa Madona were Rafel Pons and Catarina Rebassa. From the balcony of the town hall, decorated for the occasion, they delivered a carnival-themed speech that encouraged participation and reviewed local affairs without holding back on criticism.

A festive procession to the main square

Before arriving at the main square, the protagonists paraded through the streets from their usual residence to the centre, accompanied by a retinue and groups of xeremiers and tamborinos. Meanwhile, those in costumes waited in the square, eager to hear the speeches of l'Amo and sa Madona.

The square was filled with colourful outfits from participants of all ages, including entire families. After the speech, the procession moved to the plaza de Son Bordoi, where the party continued throughout the evening with live music until the early hours.

Security measures and a family atmosphere

Throughout the day, a police presence framed within the 'Safe Festivities' programme of the Balearic Government ensured the safety of attendees. The atmosphere was festive and family-friendly, with groups of friends and neighbours enjoying an event that has become a tradition in Campanet's summer calendar.

The Festes de Sant Victorià kicked off on Friday with a speech by Antònia Bennassar, who reviewed the local festivities of the year. The Summer Carnival is just the first of the events scheduled for the coming weeks in the municipality.

For the locals, this event represents an opportunity for community and fun before the main patronal festivities. Costumes, music, and citizen participation have turned the day into a success of attendance and colour.

Next weekend, activities will continue, with dances and events for all audiences. Those who missed it still have the chance to join the festivities in the coming days.
