The Civil Guard has arrested a 27-year-old man accused of two burglaries and an assault with a glass bottle in Sa Pobla. The detainee caused injuries to a neighbour that required stitches.
The Civil Guard has detained a 27-year-old man of Maghreb origin as the alleged perpetrator of two burglaries and an assault with a glass bottle in the municipality of Sa Pobla. The events occurred during the early hours of July 3 to 5, according to the armed institute.
The first burglary took place in the early hours of July 3. The suspect forced the door of a van parked on the street and stole personal documents from the owner, tools, and plumbing accessories valued at around 800 euros.
Assault on a pharmacy and attack in the square
In the early hours of July 4, the man acted again. He forced the exterior sliding gate of a pharmacy and broke the glass door to gain access inside. Once inside, he took 100 euros in cash from the cash register.
But the criminal escalation did not end there. A day later, in the early hours, the detainee approached a person sitting on a bench in the village square and asked for money. When the victim refused, the assailant struck him on the head with a glass bottle, causing injuries that required stitches.
Investigation and arrest
Agents of the Civil Guard of Sa Pobla began an investigation after becoming aware of the events. The inquiries allowed them to identify the alleged perpetrator and proceed with his arrest. The man will be brought before the judicial authority in the coming hours, accused of crimes against property and bodily injury.
The residents of Sa Pobla have expressed their concern over the succession of crimes in the municipality, although the swift action of the Civil Guard has been positively valued. The arrest is a relief for the community, especially for the victim of the assault, who has already been discharged from medical care.
From the Benemérita, they remind the importance of reporting any criminal acts and collaborating with investigations to prevent these incidents from recurring. The detainee, who has no known criminal record in the area, will be tried in the coming days.
