The Sa Pobla Town Hall is executing sustainable tourism projects worth 4.2 million, funded by the central government. These include the rehabilitation of the Can Planes and Sant Antoni museums and the renovation of the Calle del Comerç and the Plaza del Mercat.
The municipality of Sa Pobla has become the epicentre of an ambitious commitment to more sustainable tourism. The Town Hall, with funding from the central government, is implementing projects valued at 4.2 million euros that will transform key spaces in the village.
Two rehabilitated museums and a new tourist office
One of the flagship initiatives is the adaptation of the Can Planes and Sant Antoni museums, with an investment exceeding 500,000 euros. The works will not only improve the conservation of these historic buildings but will also reinforce their cultural and educational function.
Additionally, accessibility will be increased, and a new tourist information office will be incorporated. Residents will be able to enjoy newly renovated spaces that highlight local heritage, according to municipal sources.
More accessible and sustainable streets and squares
The project also includes the renovation of the Calle del Comerç and the Plaza del Mercat, with an investment of 510,000 euros. The aim is to improve the connection between the historical, cultural, and gastronomic centre of the municipality.
More accessible and sustainable mobility will be promoted, and a space linked to traditional markets and local economic activity will be recovered. Local merchants hope that these works will energise the neighbourhood and attract more visitors.
These initiatives are part of the central government's investment programme in the Balearic Islands, endowed with 287 million euros. The programme finances projects to improve urban spaces, infrastructure, and tourism services, increase energy efficiency, promote the digitalisation of the sector, and recover heritage.
A commitment to quality tourism
During a visit to two of the projects, the Secretary of State for Tourism, Rosario Sánchez, defended this investment model.
“It promotes tourism that contributes to the well-being of the population, territorial cohesion, and ecological transition”, she stated.
For the residents of Sa Pobla, these works represent an opportunity to improve their quality of life and, in turn, welcome a more environmentally respectful tourism. The works are already underway and are expected to be completed in the coming months.
