A 32-year-old woman was slightly injured after failing to yield at a stop sign on Camí Salard in Palma and colliding with another car. The Local Police attribute responsibility for the incident to the driver.

A 32-year-old driver was slightly injured last Thursday night in Palma after failing to yield and colliding with another vehicle. The accident occurred around 11:30 PM on Camí Salard, near number 67, when the woman entered from Cedre Street without respecting the priority sign.

Officers from the Accident Vehicle Unit (Uvac) of the Local Police of Palma arrived at the scene to reconstruct the events. The offending driver was taken to a private clinic to be treated for her injuries, which were classified as minor.

Accounts from Those Involved

The driver stated to the officers that she had stopped at the yield sign and, upon seeing a vehicle in the distance, believed she had time to merge onto Camí Salard. However, when she made the manoeuvre, she was struck by the other car.

The driver of the second car, a 29-year-old man, indicated that the other vehicle suddenly invaded the lane. Despite braking and honking the horn, he could not avoid the impact. Both drivers tested negative for alcohol, as confirmed by the Local Police.

Responsibility and Inadequate Speed

After the investigation, the officers concluded that the responsibility for the incident lay with the driver, who did not respect the priority sign and merged without sufficient safety. However, they also noted that the other driver was travelling at an inadequate speed for the road conditions.

Although the accident was of a minor nature, it again highlights the importance of respecting traffic signs on the streets of Palma. For local residents, Camí Salard is a common thoroughfare, and such incidents remind everyone of the need to exercise caution when merging.

The injured driver has already been discharged from medical care, according to health sources. The Local Police of Palma is preparing the necessary documentation for the corresponding report, which will be sent to the court on duty.
