The Felanitx Town Hall has made a call for responsibility and mutual respect in light of the coincidence this Sunday of the Santa Margalida festivities and the World Cup final.
The Felanitx Town Hall has urged citizens to prioritise civility and mutual respect during this Sunday, when two major events will coincide: the traditional Santa Margalida festivities and the celebration of the World Cup final.
The council has reminded that the festivities and religious events, such as the Completes, are moments of great tradition and solemnity that deserve to be preserved from any altercation. Therefore, they especially request silence and respect in the vicinity of the religious celebrations.
At the same time, the Town Hall has emphasised that the festivities should be a space for coexistence and joy, and has urged to avoid provocations, violent attitudes, or uncivil behaviour. The idea is that all residents can enjoy the celebration in a safe and festive atmosphere.
Regarding the World Cup final, the council has made it clear that sporting passion should not be an excuse to disrupt public order, damage urban furniture, or disturb those neighbours who choose not to follow the match. “We share the excitement for the final, but we remind you that sporting passion can never justify uncivil behaviour,” municipal sources have stated.
Felanitx, as highlighted by the Town Hall, has always been characterised as a welcoming and respectful town. Therefore, they trust that the residents will once again demonstrate their ability to combine passion for sport with the sentiment of local traditions and respect for coexistence.
