A 50-year-old massage therapist has been arrested by the National Police after allegedly sexually assaulting a pregnant British tourist in a hotel in Manacor.
The National Police have arrested a 50-year-old Spanish massage therapist as the alleged perpetrator of a sexual assault against a 30-year-old pregnant British tourist. The events occurred last Tuesday, around 11:10 AM, in a hotel located on Cala Antena street in Manacor.
The victim had booked the massage services of the establishment at 10:00 AM. According to her account, the session initially proceeded normally, but at one point the worker began to move his hands up her thighs. The woman asked him to stop, but the man ignored her and inserted his fingers into her genitals.
The horrified tourist got up from the massage table and left the room asking for help. Reception staff quickly responded and offered to accompany her to her room, but she refused and went up alone to find her husband and call the National Police.
National Police officers arrived at the hotel. After showering, the woman recounted what had happened. They also took statements from the hotel manager and assistant manager, who informed them that the massage therapist had left the hotel. They explained that they had been using his services for years when clients requested a massage.
The hotel management stated that about a year ago they received a complaint from another client regarding inappropriate touching by the same massage therapist, but they did not take it seriously.
The police contacted the suspect, who indicated that he was inside a car in front of the Porto Cristo sports centre. The officers went to the location and proceeded to arrest him as the alleged perpetrator of a sexual assault.
The detainee, who is Spanish, has been placed at the disposal of the judiciary. The investigation remains open to clarify the facts and determine if there are more victims. The National Police recommend that anyone who has been a victim of similar incidents report it.
The case has caused shock in the town of Manacor, where tourism is one of the main economic drivers. The hotel sector emphasizes the importance of reinforcing security protocols and control over external services contracted by establishments.
The victim, who is pregnant, is receiving psychological support following the assault. Her husband has thanked the National Police for their swift action and trusts that justice will be served.
It is expected that in the coming hours the detainee will be brought before the Manacor duty court, which will determine the appropriate precautionary measures.
