The Consell de Mallorca has reviewed the 2025/2026 season of the Teatre Principal, which closes with 61,494 spectators and an average occupancy of 70%.
The Teatre Principal de Palma has closed the 2025/2026 season with 61,494 spectators, the highest figure in recent years, according to the Consell de Mallorca. This figure represents a 2% increase compared to the previous season and consolidates the upward trend of the venue.
The programme included 122 shows and 174 performances, covering theatre, dance, opera, music, film, and family functions. The average occupancy stood at 70% between September 2025 and July 2026, a result that the institution values very positively.
Among the standout performances, the opera Tosca by Giacomo Puccini was the most viewed with 2,865 spectators, followed by Rigoletto. In theatre, the in-house production L’enemic, directed by José Martret, led the box office with 1,733 attendees. Additionally, for the first time, an opera by Richard Wagner, Der fliegende Holländer, was performed, marking a milestone for the theatre.
Several shows sold out, including Tosca, Gegant, Cyrano, La corte de Faraón, and Memorias de Adriano. The audience response has been outstanding across all genres, according to the Consell.
Beyond box office results, the Teatre Principal has strengthened its educational and accessibility programmes. Guided tours, tutoring, and school performances attracted 1,626 participants among students and families. The initiative Principal en Xarxa brought 13 shows to municipalities in the Balearic Islands, such as Manacor, Ciutadella, and Inca, with in-house productions like La corona d’espines and El malalt imaginari.
The Consell de Mallorca has emphasised that these figures consolidate the growth of the venue and reflect an increasingly diverse and accessible programme. The season spanned from September 2025 to July 2026, offering a mix of major lyrical titles with contemporary proposals and activities for all audiences.
For the residents of Palma and the island, the Teatre Principal is establishing itself as a cultural reference, with a constant increase in attendance and a commitment to quality and inclusion. The next season, which will start in September, is expected to maintain this growth trajectory.
