The woman who invested €100,000 in a pharmaceutical business with former Real Mallorca footballer Julio Álvarez reaffirmed her complaint this Wednesday in a court in Palma. The complainant claims she has not recovered anything.
The complainant accusing former Real Mallorca footballer Julio Álvarez of alleged fraud reaffirmed her complaint this Wednesday before the Palma court handling the case. The woman, who invested €100,000 in a pharmaceutical business that never materialised, explained point by point the facts she had already detailed in her initial complaint.
According to her testimony, the investment was made through the company JF Activos HLM, owned by Álvarez and his partner. The complainant claims she formalised a contract and made three payments between February and March 2023: €15,000, €55,000, and €30,000, totalling €100,000. The agreement, according to the victim, required the company to keep her informed and provide periodic accounts, but she never received any news.
The woman explained that none of the agreed follow-up meetings took place, nor was she informed about the contract's expiration. Due to the lack of response, her lawyer sent two burofaxes to the company, which also went unanswered. She only received a draft of a new contract in which, according to the complainant, Álvarez and his partner distanced themselves from their commitments and transferred the debt to another company.
The complainant then decided to file a complaint for the alleged crimes of fraud and misappropriation. This Wednesday, upon reaffirming it, she reiterated all points before the judge.
Julio Álvarez, 45, had already testified last summer as an investigated party. In that appearance, he denied committing any crime and claimed it was a failed business in which he himself lost more money than the complainant. The former footballer, who played for Real Mallorca during the 2009-2010 season under Gregorio Manzano, was trained in the Real Madrid academy and had a twenty-year career in clubs such as Racing de Santander, Rayo Vallecano, Murcia, Numancia, Almería, and Tenerife, before retiring in 2018.
The case is still ongoing in the Palma court, awaiting new proceedings. The complainant hopes that justice will determine whether a crime occurred and, if so, that she can recover the invested money. Meanwhile, the investigation must clarify whether the allegations of fraud and misappropriation are grounded or if, as the former footballer claims, it was a commercial operation that went wrong.
