The Mallorcan group Xeremies de Sóller will participate in the 26th edition of the International Gaitas Festival Villa de Xixón, which will take place from August 3 to 9 in Gijón.

The group Xeremies de Sóller has been confirmed as one of the participating formations in the 26th edition of the International Gaitas Festival Villa de Xixón, which will be held from August 3 to 9 in Gijón. The festival, one of the most established in northern Spain, will bring together bagpipe and Celtic music bands from Scotland, Brittany, Galicia, and Mallorca, among other places.
The island's delegation will consist of the musicians from Xeremies de Sóller, a group that has been promoting Balearic folklore with traditional wind and percussion instruments for years. Their presence at the festival represents an opportunity to showcase Mallorcan sounds in an international context, alongside groups such as the Scottish Milngavie Pipe Band and the Breton Bagad Arvorizion Karnag.
The festival will kick off on Monday, August 3, with the official presentation at the Casa de la Palmera. From the following day, iconic venues in Gijón such as the Parchís will host concerts, parades, and workshops. The program includes simultaneous performances by the different groups on Friday, August 7, followed by the traditional Inter-Celtic Parade from the Escalerona to the Plaza Mayor. That same night, the International Festival Gala will be held, presented by David Arango.
Xeremies de Sóller will share the stage with artists such as Leirana, Ambás and Ramsés, José Manuel Tejedor, and the Banda y Bandina Villa de Xixón. There will also be opportunities for public participation with children's workshops on instrument construction, traditional games, and a Scottish bagpipe and dance workshop led by Lauren Maree Munro and Alexander Hill Graham.
The grand finale will arrive on Sunday, August 9, with the Folixa Intercéltica and Popular Food of the Festival, starting at 14:00 hours. Organizers recommend purchasing tickets in advance, as the food event usually attracts hundreds of people. The closing day will include a craft exhibition and Romanian dance, a parade of giant figures, and traditional games, before the Conciertazu pal Baile brings everything to a close.
