The National Police have arrested three men accused of sexually assaulting a woman in Playa de Palma and, after the rape, beating her brutally. The victim had rejected them when they tried to chat her up.
The National Police have detained three men as the alleged perpetrators of a rape and physical assault on a woman in Playa de Palma, one of the busiest tourist spots in Mallorca. The events occurred in the early hours of Tuesday, June 30, when the suspects approached the victim, who was alone, intending to flirt. Upon her refusal, they grabbed her by the neck and dragged her to the sand, where they raped her.
A brutal beating after the sexual assault
During the sexual assault, the woman resisted, which enraged her attackers. Once the rape was completed, the three men beat her with kicks and punches to the face, causing her various injuries. After the beating, the suspects fled the scene as if nothing had happened.
The victim filed a complaint that same day with the National Police, who launched an investigation to identify those responsible. However, the case took an unexpected turn when, hours later, the woman encountered her attackers again while a relative was accompanying her. The relative managed to detain the suspects until the arrival of the officers, who proceeded to arrest them.
Arrested for injuries and sexual assault
The three detainees, whose personal details have not been disclosed, have been placed at the disposal of the judiciary as alleged perpetrators of a crime of injuries and another of sexual assault. The National Police continue with the proceedings to clarify all the details of the incident.
The assault has caused great shock in the local community and among tourists frequenting Playa de Palma, an area that sees a high influx of visitors in the summer. The Palma City Council has expressed its outrage and offered support to the victim, who is receiving care from specialised psychological services.
The authorities remind the importance of reporting any type of assault and encourage victims to visit the violet points set up in tourist areas, where they receive immediate advice and assistance. The investigation remains open to determine if the detainees could be implicated in other similar incidents.
