The municipality of Artà kicks off the Festes de Sant Salvador on July 29, which will run until August 7 with a hundred cultural, sports, and recreational proposals.
This Monday, July 29, Artà has officially launched the much-anticipated Festes de Sant Salvador, which will turn the municipality into a hub of activities for all audiences until August 7. The programme, which can be consulted on the official website, includes everything from concerts and sports events to children's and youth activities, with the direct involvement of local entities, associations, and clubs.
The Artà Town Hall has published a series of recommendations for residents and visitors to enjoy the festivities safely and responsibly. Among the measures highlighted are responsible water consumption, respect for waste collection schedules, and planning for travel, as traffic in the centre will be affected from 6:00 PM each day.
Special attention is warranted for the night of the verbena, on August 6, when vehicle circulation within the village will be restricted solely to residents. Visitors will need to park in designated areas on the outskirts: in the industrial estate for those arriving from Canyamel or Son Servera; in the Ses Pesqueres area for those coming from Capdepera; and between the roundabouts on the roads from Alcúdia and Manacor for those accessing from those points.
During these festive days, the Local Police of Artà and the Civil Guard will conduct breathalyser tests and checks for other substances at the entrances and exits of the municipality, with extraordinary reinforcements on the night of the verbena. The Town Hall reminds that one should not drive if alcohol or drugs have been consumed.
To ensure the comfort of attendees, public toilets will be installed at various points in the centre, the exact locations of which can be consulted on the map provided by the council. Additionally, as part of the “No i Punt” campaign against sexist aggression, there will be an information booth in the Conqueridor square during the grand verbena on August 6 to offer assistance and advice.
