The Almería Provincial Council has announced an investment of over €500,000 in four municipalities in the province, generating around 3,500 jobs. The actions are part of the Agricultural Employment Promotion Programme (PFEA).
The Almería Provincial Council has allocated more than €500,000 to improvement works in the towns of Nacimiento, Gérgal, Alcudia de Monteagud, and Tahal, which will create approximately 3,500 jobs. These actions are framed within the Agricultural Employment Promotion Programme (PFEA), which involves the participation of the State Public Employment Service (SEPE), the Junta de Andalucía, and the local councils involved.
Gérgal and Nacimiento concentrate the majority of the investment
In Gérgal, over €140,000 will be invested to generate around 1,000 jobs. The works include the renewal of the pavement on Sebastián Romero Street, in the district of Las Alcubillas, covering an area of 775 square metres and improvements to the water supply network. Cleaning and conditioning tasks will also be carried out in squares, streets, and paths, as well as the maintenance of parks and gardens.
In Nacimiento, three projects will be executed with a total investment of €150,000, creating 1,100 jobs. One of the most notable actions is the renewal of the pavement leading into the municipality from the AL-4430 road, which includes improvements to the pavement, pedestrian crossings, tree pits, and urban furniture.
Alcudia de Monteagud and Tahal: improvements in sanitation and new rural accommodation
In Alcudia de Monteagud, €50,000 will be mobilised to generate over 350 jobs. The work includes the conditioning of paths, trails, squares, parks, and municipal buildings. The pavement on Tercia and Sauco streets will be renewed, and on the latter, the sanitation network will be changed, expanding the drains on Era and La Fuente streets and around the Ethnological Museum. These improvements will increase the water drainage capacity to reduce problems during heavy rains.
In Tahal, €130,000 will be invested to create over 1,000 jobs. The actions include improvements to the pavement, tree pits, walls, and railings, as well as the rehabilitation of the school houses to convert them into rural accommodation. Electrical and plumbing installations, coverings, carpentry, and sanitary facilities will be renewed, in addition to modifying the interior spaces.
The provincial deputy responsible for the plan, Matilde Díaz, highlighted that "each action allows for the renewal of a space, improving a service and recovering infrastructure, while simultaneously creating employment and economic activity in the municipality."
These works not only improve the quality of life for residents but also generate local employment in areas with lower populations. For residents of Mallorca, although the news is of national scope, it reflects how administrations can collaborate to promote rural development, a model that could be applied on the island.
The works are already underway and are expected to be completed in the coming months, according to the Provincial Council.
