Sevilla FC U20 plays its first match of COTIF 2026 against the Brazilian national team this Tuesday. The tournament, which started on Monday in l'Alcúdia, brings together eight international teams and those from the Valencian Community.

The Sevilla FC U20 faces Brazil this Tuesday, July 21, at the Estadio Municipal Els Arcs de l'Alcúdia at 20:30, in the first group stage match of the COTIF 2026. The Seville team, participating in the U20 category, aims to start strong in one of the most prestigious youth football tournaments in the world.

An Internationally Prestigious Tournament

The 42nd edition of COTIF kicked off on Monday with an opening ceremony that included a tribute to the world champion Spanish national team, a musical performance, and a parade of the participating teams. In the U20 category, alongside Sevilla FC and Brazil, compete Levante UD, Valencia CF, CD Castellón, Elche CF, Morocco, and Mauritania.

The tournament, held from July 20 to 39, is a breeding ground for talent: players such as Iker Casillas, Cafú, Isco Alarcón, Kang-In Lee, Carlos Soler, and Ferran Torres have all participated. In the women's edition, figures like Alexia Putellas and Mariona Caldentey have also stood out.

Sevilla FC Aiming for First Victory

The Seville team, led by its youth coach, approaches the match with hopes of progressing in the tournament. Brazil, meanwhile, is one of the favourite teams, but Sevilla FC is confident of pulling off an upset. Luis Cervera, director of sports for the Valencian Community, highlighted at the opening that “football is great thanks to tournaments like COTIF.”

For Sevilla FC fans, this match is an opportunity to see the club's future stars on an international stage. The match can be followed live from the stands of the stadium or through the tournament's digital platforms.

A Breeding Ground for Stars

COTIF has been a springboard for numerous footballers who later triumphed at the elite level. Ferran Torres, for example, played in the tournament before moving to Valencia CF and then to FC Barcelona. Mariona Caldentey, a world champion with Spain, also participated in the women's edition. For the young Sevillistas, shining in l'Alcúdia could be the first step towards a professional career.

The tournament is not just about football: the organisation has prepared parallel activities and a social area for the teams. Eliseu Gómez, president of COTIF, and Angels Boix, first deputy mayor of l'Alcúdia, welcomed the participants in an event that combined sport and entertainment.

Upcoming Matches and How to Follow the Tournament

After Tuesday's match, the Sevilla FC U20 will play the rest of the group stage in the following days. The complete schedule is available on the official COTIF website. Tickets for the matches are sold at the box office and online, with affordable prices to enjoy top-level youth football.
