The Agricultural Employment Promotion Programme (PFEA) of the Almería Provincial Council has allocated over 500,000 euros to projects in Gérgal, Nacimiento, Alcudia de Monteagud and Tahal, generating 3,500 jobs.
The Almería Provincial Council has launched a new round of projects under the Agricultural Employment Promotion Programme (PFEA) that mobilise over half a million euros in four municipalities of the province. The actions, which generate 3,500 jobs, focus on improving streets, municipal networks, public spaces and facilities.
Investment in Gérgal and Nacimiento
In Gérgal, the PFEA has an investment of over 140,000 euros and generates more than a thousand jobs. The works include the renewal of the pavement of 775 square metres on Sebastián Romero Street, in Las Alcubillas, as well as the improvement of the water supply network. Additionally, environmental maintenance work is being carried out throughout the municipality, such as cleaning streets and squares, caring for parks and gardens, and painting buildings.
In Nacimiento, three projects are being promoted with a total investment of 150,000 euros and more than 1,100 jobs. One of the actions renovates the pavement of the access to the municipality from the AL-4403 road, improving pavement, pedestrian crossings and urban furniture. Environmental maintenance is also being undertaken for 28 spaces in the municipal area and the Gilma neighbourhood. The third project includes the construction of a three by three metre children's splash pool, with renewal of the perimeter fencing.
Projects in Alcudia de Monteagud and Tahal
In Alcudia de Monteagud, the PFEA mobilises 50,000 euros and generates more than 350 jobs. The actions include the maintenance of paths, squares and green areas, as well as improvements on Tercia and Sauco streets, where the pavement will be renewed and the sewage network replaced. The drains on Era and La Fuente streets will also be expanded to improve water drainage during heavy rains.
In Tahal, the investment exceeds 130,000 euros and generates more than a thousand jobs. The programme includes environmental maintenance in Tahal and Benitorafe, with cleaning, gardening and painting work. In the Laberinto squares, in Benitorafe, the water supply network, pavement and furniture will be renewed. Additionally, the old school houses will be rehabilitated to convert them into rural tourism accommodation, with a comprehensive reform that includes new electrical and plumbing installations.
The provincial deputy responsible for the PFEA, Matilde Díaz, has highlighted that the programme "demonstrates that collaboration between administrations translates into real improvements for the towns." She emphasised that "each action allows for the renewal of a space, improvement of a service or recovery of an infrastructure while simultaneously creating jobs and economic activity in the municipality itself."
The PFEA brings together the State Public Employment Service (SEPE), the Government of Andalusia, the Provincial Council and the town councils to improve infrastructures and boost local employment. This model allows for "pooling resources to develop projects tailored to the needs of each locality and provide job opportunities in rural areas," according to the provincial institution.
