The Consell de Mallorca held a new evening of Nits d’estiu a Raixa on Saturday with the musical show 'La croada al Regne sobre el mar', which narrates the conquest of the kingdom of Mallorca.
Last Saturday, the public estate of Raixa, in Bunyola, hosted a new edition of Nits d’estiu a Raixa, organised by the Consell de Mallorca. The central event was the musical show La croada al Regne sobre el mar, a chronicle that transports the audience to the time of the conquest of the kingdom of Mallorca by the troops of Jaime I.
The second vice president and councillor of Environment, Rural Affairs and Sports, Pedro Bestard, attended the evening at the emblematic estate, declared a Cultural Heritage Site in 1993. Bestard highlighted the Consell's commitment to bringing culture closer to the public in an exceptional setting.
The work, composed by the young musician Pau Cladera Marroig, is structured in two acts that combine narration and music. The first part is inspired by the Llibre dels fets, offering the Christian view of events; the second, based on the Kitab Ta’rih Mayurqa, presents the perspective of the Muslims residing in Mallorca.
The actor Miquel Àngel Torrens was in charge of the narration, while the musical part was provided by the Orquestra Aprojove, the choirs, and soloist Lorena Bonnín. The audience enjoyed a sound journey that fuses history and music in a privileged natural environment.
Bestard emphasised that “as every summer, we have opted for concerts that highlight our talent, culture and traditions, in an estate that opens its doors to all Mallorcans so they can enjoy the heritage, the landscape and the music, in an exceptional setting”.
The concert on Saturday was the second of four scheduled by the Department of Environment, Rural Affairs and Sports at Raixa for this summer. The cycle will continue on August 8 with Dives amb veu de dona, a project that brings together three female voices from the Balearic music scene: Marga Pocoví, Marisa Rojas, and Esperança Sureda. The show will pay tribute to the female figure in music through covers of great national and international divas.
The grand finale will arrive on August 22 with Back to Black: Homenatge Amy Winehouse, where a group of ten musicians will review the hits of the iconic soul artist.
All concerts start at 21:00 hours, are suitable for all audiences, and are free of charge, with limited capacity and no prior reservation required. The estate of Raixa, located at the foot of the Serra de Tramuntana, offers a unique setting for these musical evenings that combine culture, history and nature.
For the residents of Bunyola and all of Mallorca, these summer nights represent an opportunity to enjoy live music in a heritage environment of great value. The Consell's initiative seeks to energise the island's cultural offering and showcase spaces like Raixa, which remains open to the public all year round.
