The Teatre Sa Societat hosts the screening of the documentary 'Sacar pecho: a journey against fear' this Monday, which tells the story of eight women with breast cancer. The Calvià Town Hall will make a donation of €3,849 to the Solti Foundation.
The Teatre Sa Societat in Calvià is preparing to host an event this Monday that combines awareness and financial commitment against breast cancer. The event will include the screening of the documentary 'Sacar pecho: a journey against fear' and the presentation of a donation of €3,849 to the Solti Foundation, aimed at boosting oncological clinical research.
The film, produced locally, follows the hiking journey of eight women diagnosed with breast cancer along Sa Travessa in the Serra de Tramuntana. More than a physical challenge, the documentary proposes a dialogue about the experience of the illness, where collective effort and connection with nature act as tools for emotional support.
A documentary with a Mallorcan stamp
The production has been promoted by a medical team consisting of oncologist Antonia Perelló, psycho-oncologist Mònica Martí, and surgeon Valerio Corazza, with executive production by Vivirdelcuento and participation from the Solti Foundation. The narrative intersperses the personal testimonies of the patients with the perspective of the oncology team, highlighting the importance of human support during diagnosis and treatment.
According to the Calvià Town Hall, the documentary aims to raise awareness of the reality faced by people with breast cancer and reinforce institutional commitment to medical research. The screening, open to the public, will take place at 19:00 at the Teatre Sa Societat, with free entry.
A donation with a solidarity stamp
The donation of €3,849 consists of a nominative grant of €3,000 from the Calvià Town Hall and €849 raised by the Calvià 365 Foundation through children's sports events: the Challenge Peguera Mallorca 2025, the Sant Silvestre Calvianera 2025, and the Half Marathon Magaluf 2026. These funds will be used to integrate the voice of patients into clinical research, ensuring that scientific advances in breast cancer address the priorities and quality of life of those undergoing the process.
The Solti Foundation, a leading academic group in oncological clinical research, will channel the resources to improve the prognosis and quality of life for diagnosed individuals, as well as to give voice to patients in the development of treatments. For the residents of Calvià, this initiative represents an opportunity to get involved in a cause that affects many families in the region.
An event not to be missed
This Monday's event not only offers the chance to watch a moving documentary but also to contribute, even symbolically, to the fight against breast cancer. Attendees will have the opportunity to hear firsthand from the protagonists and the medical team. Entry is free until capacity is reached, and it is recommended to arrive early to secure a seat.
