Palma de Mallorca will host a youth exchange from August 28 to September 6 under the Erasmus+ Cultura Viva programme, involving 30 young people from Calvià and the Portuguese municipality of Moura.
This project will bring together 15 young people from each locality, all aged between 14 and 16 years. They will also be accompanied by two adults from Moura and four youth workers from the Calvià Town Hall’s Youth Service, who will facilitate the planned activities.
The initiative is funded by a grant of 27,215 euros from the Erasmus+ programme of the European Union and aims to promote mutual understanding between the cultures of both municipalities, as well as to foster values of participation, respect, and cooperation.
Planned Activities
During the week of the exchange, the young people will participate in a diverse range of cultural, educational, environmental, and sports activities, designed to encourage coexistence and intercultural learning.
The activities will include team-building dynamics at the municipal youth centre of Es Generador, a stay at the public estate of Galatzó, workshops on traditional games, making siurells, and activities at the beach of Sa Ràpita.
Additionally, they will undertake cultural visits to notable places on the island such as Valldemossa, Sóller, Sa Foradada, Puig de sa Morisca, Bellver Castle, and the city of Palma. Traditional dance workshops will also be held, and cultural nights will celebrate both Spanish and Portuguese cultures.
Participatory Methodology
The young people will be organised into mixed groups called family groups, where they can share their experiences and suggest improvements throughout the week. This structure aims to enhance coexistence, active participation, and communication among the participants.
This project represents a further step in the ongoing effort to integrate young people into initiatives that strengthen their sense of European citizenship and their commitment to meaningful learning.
