The Expanded Literature Festival in Magaluf (FLEM) has unveiled the first names of its programme, which will take place from 1 to 4 October at the InnSide Wave Calvià hotel.
FLEM, the Expanded Literature Festival in Magaluf, announced this Tuesday the first writers who will participate in its sixth edition, scheduled for 1 to 4 October. Among those confirmed are the French David Foenkinos, journalist and novelist Manuel Jabois, and paleontologist Juan Luis Arsuaga, alongside other national and international voices.
The event, organised by Rata Corner and InnSide by Meliá with the support of the Calvià Town Hall, the Institut d’Estudis Baleàrics, the Consell de Mallorca, and the Ministry of Culture, is changing its venue this year. It will move to the InnSide Wave Calvià hotel, facing the sea and just 200 metres from its previous location, where the first five editions were held.
David Foenkinos, one of the most read and translated French novelists, will present his latest work, Everyone Loves Clara, in Mallorca. Meanwhile, German writer Aria Aber, who resides in the United States, will make her only visit to Spain at FLEM following the publication of Good Girl, nominated for the Women’s Prize for Fiction 2025.
The Spanish lineup also includes Juan Luis Arsuaga, co-director of the Atapuerca sites and author of The Answer; Alicia Giménez Bartlett, creator of inspector Petra Delicado and a reference in crime fiction; Manuel Jabois, presenting The Eve; and musician and writer Rayden (David Martínez Álvarez), with his work The Blind Man Who Described the World.
The festival also supports new generations. The Canarian Lana Corujo, a literary phenomenon of the year with They Sang Bingo, will be present, as will the Mallorcan Laura Gost, who will publish The Price of Being Born in September, translated into seven languages. Another local author is Olivia Lund, one of the emerging voices in Catalan. Ana Garriga and Carmen Urbita, creators of the podcast The Daughters of Felipe, who have published Instructions for Novices, will also participate.
Registrations to attend the festival will open in September, once the complete programme is known. As in previous years, special accommodation packages will be offered at the InnSide by Meliá hotels in Magaluf for attendees.
FLEM thus consolidates itself as a cultural reference point on the island, combining big names from international literature with local talent and new voices. The seaside location and the expanded format, which includes activities beyond presentations, aim to attract both residents and tourists interested in culture.
For readers in Mallorca, the festival represents a unique opportunity to access top-level authors without leaving the island. The proximity of the venue and the variety of activities allow for enjoying literature in a different setting, away from traditional circuits.
