Two 25-year-old men have been seriously injured after a motorcycle accident on the Ma-10 road, in the Serra de Tramuntana, near Sóller.
The incident occurred around 12:20 this noon at kilometre 40 of the Ma-10 road, when the motorcycle carrying the two young men lost control on a sharp left curve. According to the initial investigations by the Civil Guard Traffic Department, the vehicle skidded on the roadway and ended up crashing into a side wall.
They were thrown off and fell into the ditch
As a result of the severe impact, the two occupants were thrown off the motorcycle and fell into the ditch, next to the roadside. A young woman riding behind them on another motorcycle was the one who alerted the emergency services, according to sources from the operation.
The first to arrive at the scene were the medical staff from the health centre in Sóller, who quickly responded due to the proximity of the accident site. Subsequently, a medicalised ambulance and several support vehicles were mobilised, along with personnel from the Civil Guard Traffic Department and the Local Police of Sóller.
Transferred to Son Espases in serious condition
The medical teams stabilised the two injured at the scene of the accident. Both were transferred in serious condition to the Son Espases University Hospital, the referral centre for the entire island. The consulted sources did not specify the exact nature of the injuries, but confirmed that they are serious.
The accident forced the closure of one of the two lanes of the Ma-10, a heavily trafficked road, especially during peak season. The agents regulated traffic by allowing alternate passage for vehicles, although no significant delays were recorded due to the low traffic intensity at that hour.
The Civil Guard investigates the causes
Once the injured were evacuated, traffic was restored and a tow truck removed the crashed motorcycle. The Civil Guard Traffic Department has taken charge of the investigation to clarify the exact circumstances of the incident. More information about the affected individuals, such as their place of residence or whether they are tourists, is currently unknown.
The Ma-10 road, which crosses the Serra de Tramuntana, is known for its sharp curves and mountainous layout, making it a common site for motorcycle accidents. Authorities remind the importance of exercising extreme caution on this road, especially in the most winding sections. The residents of Sóller and regular drivers in the area hope for a swift recovery for the injured.
