The party Independents per sa Pobla (IxSP) has unanimously approved its incorporation into Coalició per Mallorca, a formation that will represent it in the town hall of sa Pobla in the upcoming municipal elections.

The party Independents per sa Pobla (IxSP) has unanimously approved its integration into Coalició per Mallorca by its governing bodies. The agreement, sealed this week, means that the local formation will be responsible for representing the coalition in the town hall of sa Pobla in the upcoming municipal elections, while maintaining its identity and local project within a common initiative.

A step towards defending the interests of Mallorca

The agreement has been driven by the mayor of sa Pobla, Biel Ferragut, the president of IxSP, Xisco Bonnín, and the coordinator of Coalició per Mallorca, Joan Serra. The decision responds to the desire to combine efforts in the face of the challenges facing the island.

Both formations emphasise that Mallorca faces challenges such as demographic pressure, access to housing, preservation of territory, rising living costs, and the need to strengthen its own voice before institutions. In this context, they advocate for the need to articulate political projects with greater capacity for impact.

Statements from the protagonists

Ferragut has stated that the integration represents “a natural evolution” of the municipal project. “It is time to combine efforts to better defend Mallorca. Many of the challenges of sa Pobla are also those of the island, and together we can provide a more effective response,” he affirmed.

“It is time to combine efforts to better defend Mallorca. Many of the challenges of sa Pobla are also those of the island, and together we can provide a more effective response,” affirmed Biel Ferragut.

For his part, Bonnín highlighted the coincidence in values and objectives as the basis of the agreement. “We share a way of understanding politics based on proximity, responsibility, and commitment to our land. This incorporation allows us to maintain our identity while simultaneously being part of a project with greater capacity for impact,” he explained.

The general coordinator of the coalition, Joan Serra, has positively evaluated the integration, emphasising that “each incorporation makes the Mallorca project stronger” and allows for the addition of government experience and commitment in a context marked by structural challenges.

Consolidation of the coalition

The candidate of Coalició per Mallorca for the presidency of the Balearic Government, Pere Sánchez, has assured that the coalition is consolidating as a “solid and growing” alternative. “We are increasingly those who believe that Mallorca needs a political force focused exclusively on defending the interests of the Mallorcans,” he indicated.

With this incorporation, Coalició per Mallorca expands its territorial presence and reinforces its commitment to a political project based on proximity, rigor, and the defence of the interests of the island's citizens.

For the residents of sa Pobla, the integration means that the party governing the municipality since 2023 aligns with an island-wide platform, which could translate into greater coordination regarding housing, territory, and public services. The coalition already has representation in several town halls across the island and aims to be a decisive force in the upcoming elections.

The agreement, according to sources from the formation, will take effect immediately, and the councillors of IxSP in the town hall of sa Pobla will become part of the Coalició per Mallorca group. The next municipal electoral date is scheduled for May 2027.
