Content creator Iris, known as @Que_lo_pruebe_Iris, has tried the new meat and tomato sandwich from Mercadona's 'Ready to Eat' section. Her verdict: an 8 out of 10.

The gastronomic tiktoker Iris, with over 70,000 followers on the social network, has tested Mercadona's latest offering in its 'Ready to Eat' section. It is a meat and tomato sandwich that costs €4.50 and which the chain has launched for those looking for a quick option without sacrificing flavour.

Iris, who has amassed loyal followers with her supermarket product reviews, purchased the sandwich at one of the chain's stores. As she explains in her video, she took it hot directly from the burger area, so she didn't need to heat it up at home. The product, however, should be consumed immediately or kept between 0 and 4 degrees.

A bite with a surprise

Upon cutting it in half, the content creator highlighted that the bread was super soft and that the filling was generous. In her first bite, she noticed that the flavour was not just tomato: "

It doesn't just taste of tomato, it also tastes of ratatouille with its peppers. The meat is quite tender, it has a slight chewy point, but for the price it is very good
", she concluded.

The final score she gave it was an 8 out of 10, a rating that many of her followers consider high given the price. And although the sandwich costs €4.50, some users commented that for €6 you can get a kebab meal with chips and a drink.

Ingredients and warnings

The sandwich is made with marinated pork with tomato sauce, extra virgin olive oil, refined sunflower oil, salt, sugar, water, and wheat flour bread, so it contains gluten. The label also warns that it may contain traces of mustard, milk and its derivatives, lupins, peanuts, sesame, nuts, eggs, soy, celery, crustaceans, molluscs, and fish.

For residents of Mallorca who want to try it, the product is available in Mercadona stores on the island that have a 'Ready to Eat' section. As a practical tip, it is best to consume it immediately to enjoy the texture of the bread and the meat.
