More than two thousand residents of Can Pastilla suffered power cuts this weekend due to two outages in underground cables. Endesa is working to restore supply, but by 2 PM on Sunday, 634 customers were still without power.

The first outage was detected on Saturday morning, although it originated on Friday night. It affected more than 970 customers in the areas of Cala Estància and Can Pastilla. Endesa mobilised seven generators and opened a trench to repair the underground cable. Most regained supply between 10 and 11 PM on Saturday, although a few remained pending.

Second outage on Sunday

On Sunday morning, a new incident on another line left more than 1,500 customers without power, also in Can Pastilla. The generators from the previous day were moved to this new area to mitigate the effects. By 1:30 PM, 974 were affected; an hour later, 634 customers were still without supply.

Endesa expects that by 8 PM on Sunday, all those affected will have power. The company has expressed regret for the inconvenience and has assured that it has mobilised all available resources to reduce waiting time.

Residents' outrage during a heatwave

Several residents have expressed their anger at the duration of the outage, which coincides with a heatwave that is raising temperatures in homes. Without air conditioning or fans, many have spent the weekend in extreme conditions. “It is unacceptable to be two days without power in this heat,” stated a resident of Blanquerna Street.

Endesa workers continue to work on repairing the second outage. The company has reminded that the cuts are due to two failures in underground cables of the medium voltage network, an unusual incident but one that requires excavations for repair.

For the residents of Can Pastilla, the priority now is to restore supply as soon as possible. Endesa has set up a customer service phone line to inform about the progress of the work. It is expected that by late afternoon, all households will return to normal.
