Andrés Hilario and Marina Grosso have been crowned winners of the Ciutat de Palma-El Corte Inglés aquathlon, held this Sunday at Can Pere Antoni beach with 250 participants.
The triathlete from Club Triatlón Albacete Res Andrés Hilario and the athlete from Total Team Marina Grosso claimed victory in the Ciutat de Palma-El Corte Inglés aquathlon, which took place this Sunday at Can Pere Antoni beach. The event, which combined running and swimming, brought together around 250 athletes from all categories on a morning marked by high humidity.
Dominance from start to finish
Hilario, one of the best national triathletes, set the pace from the start and left no chance for his rivals. Following him, Tadeo Barruffato (CE Triiles) crossed the finish line 15 seconds later, securing second place, while Albert Rodas (RDS) completed the podium in third position. In the women's category, Grosso showed her superiority in the water and achieved a remarkable time, followed by Esther Vérilhac (Rds Triatló) and Leonor Font (Club Marathon Mallorca).
A demanding sprint distance event
The aquathlon was contested over a sprint distance: 2,500 meters of running, 1,000 meters of swimming, and another 2,500 meters of running. This course tested the endurance of the participants, many of whom came from across the Balearic Islands. The event was organised by the Federation of Triathlon of the Balearic Islands (Fetrib), with the support of El Corte Inglés and the Palma City Council.
In the club classification, RDS took the highest score, followed by Total Team Mallorca and Club Amistad. The start event was attended by the General Director of Sports of the Palma City Council, David Salom, and Antonio Sánchez, Director of Institutional Relations of El Corte Inglés, who did not want to miss the sporting atmosphere at Can Pere Antoni beach.
A well-established event in the local calendar
The Ciutat de Palma aquathlon has become a classic summer event in Palma. This year's edition, with 250 participants, demonstrates the strong roots of an event that combines two fundamental disciplines of triathlon and serves as preparation for many athletes ahead of the season. For the residents of Palma, Can Pere Antoni beach was the ideal setting to enjoy outdoor sports, with the start and finish on the sand itself.
The next sporting event in the area will be the Palma Triathlon, scheduled for September, where many of the participants from this aquathlon will meet again. For now, Hilario and Grosso already have their names etched on the list of winners of an event that continues to grow.
