The service, which will connect Bonanova, Francesc Vidal i Sureda and Saridakis, starts this Wednesday, July 29, with 45-minute frequencies.
The Municipal Transport Company (EMT) of Palma will launch an extension of the shuttle bus route serving Bonanova from this Wednesday, July 29. The new feature is that it will now also reach Saridakis street, a request from residents following the traffic restrictions imposed by the Consell de Mallorca on the viaduct in the area.
The new service will operate every day of the week, from 6:30 AM to 11:05 PM. The shuttle will connect Bonanova, Francesc Vidal i Sureda street, and Saridakis street, with a stop at the Portopí interchange area. This way, residents of Saridakis regain a direct connection to the centre of Palma and the public transport network.
The first departures from the line head, located at stop 1344 in Portopí heading towards Bonanova, will be at 6:30, 7:03, 7:35, and 8:10 AM. After that, the service will have a frequency of 45 minutes. The last departures from Portopí are scheduled for 10:35 PM and 11:05 PM.
Additionally, the shuttle will access the Bonanova Residence at specific times: at 9:35, 11:05, 11:50, 12:35, 2:45 PM, and 6:30 PM. On the return journey to Saridakis, the bus will also stop at Portopí (stop 65).
This extension responds to requests from residents affected by the diversion of lines L46 and L47. These lines had to modify their routes due to the traffic restriction on the viaduct of Saridakis street, where the Consell de Mallorca is carrying out maintenance work. Only cars and motorcycles can circulate on the viaduct, while heavy vehicles, including buses, are prohibited from passing.
The Mobility area of the Palma City Council has adapted the necessary signage so that buses can make a U-turn at the top of the street. While the restrictions remain in place, lines L46 and L47 will continue with provisional routes: L46 towards Portopí via Joan Miró avenue to the Belvedere Hotel, and L47 also via Portopí and Joan Miró.
During this period, only stops 167 and 168, located next to the Saridakis viaduct, will be out of service. The special shuttle service will remain until the viaduct is reopened to traffic, at which point lines L46 and L47 will resume their usual routes.
For residents of Saridakis street and Bonanova, this shuttle represents a relief in their daily mobility, as it avoids long walks to other stops. EMT reminds that the service is temporary but will be operational while the works on the viaduct last.
Users can check the complete schedules and stops on the EMT website or through its mobile app. It is recommended to plan trips in advance, especially during peak morning hours when frequencies are tighter.
This action is part of the efforts of the Palma City Council to maintain connectivity in areas affected by public works, minimizing inconvenience to citizens. The collaboration between the Consell de Mallorca and EMT has been key to finding a quick and effective solution.
