Local Police in Palma dismantles gatherings at Can Pere Antoni with nearly 40 fines

A special operation by the Local Police in Palma against gatherings at Can Pere Antoni resulted in nearly 40 fines and the removal of nine speakers. The action, which lasted until the early hours, responds to residents' complaints about noise.

On the night of July 18, the Local Police of Palma deployed a special device at the beach of Can Pere Antoni and the promenade of Portitxol to tackle the gatherings and music parties that residents have been reporting. The outcome: nearly 40 fines, nine speakers confiscated, and a criminal report against a driver who was driving without a license.

An operation that started at 10:30 PM

The Preventive Action Group (GAP) focused on the sandy area and the adjacent parking lot. There, officers issued 22 reports for alcohol consumption in public and nine fines for causing disturbances with music, which led to the removal of the speakers. Those urinating in the street, obstructing identification, or hindering police work were also sanctioned.

The operation included a traffic control in which eight vehicles were inspected. One of the drivers, who had never obtained a driving license, now faces a criminal report for an offense against road safety. Another driver registered a blood alcohol level of 0.65 mg/l in the breathalyser test, well above the limit, and was fined. Additionally, three individuals were sanctioned for not wearing seatbelts.

The Green Patrol inspects Portitxol establishments

Simultaneously, the Green Patrol toured the establishments along the Portitxol promenade to check opening hours and noise levels. Most complied with regulations, but one establishment was fined because its music on the terrace could be heard from the public road. Officers issued three reports: one for acoustic disturbances, another for failing to display activity documentation, and a third for the inspection.

At 12:45 AM, the Green Patrol verified the closing of the terraces and confirmed that all establishments had concluded their activities. The night ended without further incidents.

For local residents, these operations are a relief, although many demand more regular police presence during weekends. The Palma City Council assures that it will continue to act against gatherings and antisocial behavior on the capital's beaches.
