Aemet activates the orange alert in the interior of Mallorca for this Tuesday, with maximums of 39 degrees. The rest of the island will be on yellow alert, with temperatures of up to 38 degrees.

The interior of Mallorca will be the hottest point on the island this Tuesday, with 39 degrees expected between 12:00 and 20:00 hours. The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) has activated the orange alert in this area, indicating a significant risk for the population, especially for the elderly, children, and those engaging in outdoor activities.

Yellow alert in the rest of Mallorca

The southern part of the island, including Palma, will be on yellow alert with maximums of up to 38 degrees. In the capital, temperatures will be somewhat more moderate near the sea, but the feeling of mugginess will be high. The alert also extends to the north, northeast, and the Serra de Tramuntana, where similar records are expected.

In the Llevant region of Mallorca, the yellow alert will affect municipalities such as Manacor, with 38 degrees and high humidity making the day particularly heavy. In the Serra, temperatures will vary according to altitude: in Sóller, 35 degrees are expected, but nights will be tropical, with minimums of 23 or 24 degrees across the island.

Tropical nights and heat extending to Wednesday

Aemet warns that minimums will hover around 23 or 24 degrees, making rest difficult in numerous municipalities. The skies will be partially cloudy, but the heat will not relent. The orange alert will continue on Wednesday in the interior and yellow in the rest of the areas, with temperatures again reaching 39 and 38 degrees respectively.

In light of this situation, the City Council of Palma recommends staying hydrated constantly, avoiding going out during the peak hours of the day, and paying special attention to vulnerable groups. Health centres have already reported an increase in consultations for mild heat strokes, according to health sources.

For the residents of Mallorca, the recommendation is clear: if it’s not necessary, it’s better to stay at home with air conditioning or seek cool spaces. And although summer is already accustomed to giving us heat, these days promise to be ones that test both the thermometer and our patience.
