The City Council of Palma has installed a giant screen in Son Fusteret to follow the World Cup semifinal between Spain and France (Tuesday, 21:00). Additionally, the metro is enhancing its service with 16 extra trains between 23:00 and 1:00.
Palma is preparing for a major football night. The City Council has set up a giant screen in the Son Fusteret venue, the largest in the city, to watch live the World Cup semifinal facing Spain and France this Tuesday at 21:00. Doors will open at 18:00 so that the public can arrive in time and enjoy the pre-match atmosphere.
To facilitate travel, Serveis Ferroviaris de Mallorca has established a special metro service. From the Son Fuster Vell station, eight trains will depart between 23:15 and 00:25, with a frequency of ten minutes. From the Intermodal Station, another eight departures will occur between 23:05 and 00:15, also every ten minutes. This way, fans can return home without hassle after the match.
Atmosphere and musical entertainment in Son Fusteret
Before the kick-off, the organisation has arranged a performance by DJ Jaume Colombàs to get everyone in the mood. The venue will feature dining areas and auxiliary screens so that no detail is missed. Entry is free, although it is recommended to download a prior pass to ensure access, given the limited capacity.
This is not the only option in Palma. Es Gremi Centre Musical, in the Son Castelló industrial area, has also expanded its capacity and will screen the match in its Room 3, equipped with a giant screen, air conditioning, and seating. Entry is free, but it must be downloaded in advance. If Spain wins, the celebration continues with an official afterparty featuring the same DJ.
A historic match for the national team
Spain is vying for a place in the World Cup final for the second time in its history. The last time was in 2010, when a goal from Carles Puyol eliminated Germany and opened the door to the title in South Africa. Now, the opponent is France, one of the strongest teams in the tournament. The fans in Palma, who have passionately followed every match, hope to repeat the feat.
For those who prefer a more intimate atmosphere, Eivo Sports Bar, located right at the entrance to Son Fuster, will also screen the match on a giant screen, as it has done throughout the World Cup. The World Cup fever has spread throughout the city: bars, restaurants, and fan clubs have rallied behind the national team.
The City Council reminds that consumption of alcohol in public spaces is prohibited and that security will be reinforced around the broadcasting points. It is also recommended to use public transport to avoid traffic jams, especially in the Son Fusteret and Son Castelló areas.
If Spain secures a place in the final, the decisive match would be held next Sunday. For now, Palma already has a celebration plan: giant screen, extra metro, and plenty of fans. Let the ball roll.
