The Palma City Council will install a giant screen in Son Fusteret to broadcast the semi-final of the World Cup between Spain and France. Access will be free and the metro and buses will be reinforced.
The Palma City Council has announced a special security operation and an enhancement of public transport due to the giant screen broadcast of the FIFA World Cup semi-final between the teams of Spain and France, which will take place this Tuesday at the Son Fusteret venue.
According to a statement from the Council, access to the event will be free and the doors will open from 18:00 hours. The operation will include the presence of the Local Police, emergency services, and security personnel to ensure the smooth running of the event.
Public transport enhancement: shuttle buses and extra metro
In terms of transport, the EMT will reinforce the L10 line with a special shuttle bus service between Sindicato and Son Fusteret. The operation will start at 18:00 hours with five articulated buses that will run continuously until the match begins, scheduled for 21:00 hours.
Once the match has ended, the vehicles will remain at the stop 285-Son Fusteret and will make continuous trips to Plaza de España to facilitate the return of attendees.
Meanwhile, Serveis Ferroviaris de Mallorca (SFM) will provide a special metro service with 16 extraordinary trips between the Son Fuster Vell (Son Fusteret) station and the Intermodal Station, in both directions. From Son Fuster Vell, eight trains will depart between 23:15 and 00:25 hours, with a frequency of ten minutes, while another eight services will leave from the Intermodal Station between 23:05 and 00:15 hours. All will stop at the Jacint Verdaguer and Son Costa-Son Fortesa stations.
Pre-match programming and access restrictions
The pre-match programming will start with ambient music, and between 20:00 and 21:00 hours, DJ Jaume Colombás will perform to entertain the wait before the match begins.
For security reasons, access to the venue with sharp objects, glass containers, flares, coolers, aerosols or sprays, folding chairs, alcoholic beverages, balls, or any other objects that could be thrown will not be permitted.
For Palma residents who cannot get to Son Fusteret, the City Council recommends watching the match at home or in bars around the city, although it warns that the experience on a giant screen and the festive atmosphere are hard to match. However, those who choose the bar will have to wake up early the next day, as the match ends close to midnight and bus and metro services will be available until after one in the morning.
