The Artà Town Council has cancelled the fireworks display planned for tonight as part of the Sant Salvador festivities. The municipality remains at Alert Level 4, which prohibits any fire-related activities.
The Artà Town Council has announced the suspension of the fireworks that were scheduled for tonight as part of the Fiestas de Sant Salvador. The decision was made due to the high risk of forest fires affecting the entire archipelago.
The municipality continues on Tuesday at Alert Level 4, activated by the Government of the Balearic Islands, a level that entails an explicit prohibition on conducting pyrotechnic activities. Given this situation, the Council is obliged to comply with the restrictions and cannot authorise the launch of the fireworks.
The Town Council has explained that it has been continuously monitoring the weather conditions with the intention of holding the display if circumstances allowed. However, the persistence of the risk has forced this preventive measure, which has already been implemented in other municipalities across the islands.
The fireworks display has been postponed until the Fira de Artà, provided that the weather conditions and current regulations permit it at that time. The Council regrets any inconvenience this cancellation may cause and appreciates the understanding of the public, emphasising that the safety of people and the protection of the environment must prevail.
The decision comes in a summer marked by exceptional weather conditions, with a very high risk of forest fires across Mallorca. Residents and visitors who were looking forward to the display will have to wait for the new date, which will be announced once confirmed.
