The Capdepera Town Hall has announced traffic restrictions and the closure of the castle for the observation of the solar eclipse on August 12.

The municipality of Capdepera is preparing for the solar eclipse next Wednesday, August 12, with a special mobility and safety plan. The Town Hall has informed that the Far road and Clapers street will remain closed to traffic throughout the day, while the Capdepera Castle will close its doors at 5:00 PM.

The Cala Agulla area will also experience circulation restrictions, especially around s'Ullal, s'Ullal II, and its surroundings, as detailed by the council in a statement. Visitors and residents are advised to plan their journeys in advance and to follow the instructions of the agents.

The Town Hall reminds everyone that it is essential to use approved solar glasses or filters specifically for this purpose to observe the eclipse. Conventional sunglasses do not protect the eyes, and they warn that one should not look directly at the Sun through cameras, mobile phones, binoculars, or telescopes without the appropriate filter.

Additionally, the council calls for the prevention of forest fires, as we are in a high-risk period. It is prohibited to throw cigarette butts or any waste that could cause a fire, as well as to light fires or engage in activities that generate sparks. They also ask to keep access clear for emergency vehicles.

If smoke or fire is detected, it should be reported immediately to 112, providing the location as accurately as possible. The Town Hall appreciates the cooperation of citizens to enjoy the phenomenon safely.
