The municipality of the Sierra de Tramuntana is finalising its festive programme in honour of the Virgin, with religious events, festivities, and activities for all ages over eight days.
Banyalbufar is preparing to experience one of its most significant events of the year. The festivities for the Nativity of the Virgin Mary will be held from September 1 to 8, as confirmed by the Banyalbufar Town Hall, which has already announced the planned programme of events for these eight days of celebration.
The programme combines traditional religious events with recreational and cultural proposals for locals and visitors. The bulk of the celebration will be concentrated in the urban centre of the municipality, which during the first week of September will host festivities, musical performances, and activities designed for all ages.
The Banyalbufar Town Hall has organised a programme that aims to keep local traditions alive. The day of September 8, the feast of the Virgin, will be the most solemn, featuring the main mass and the subsequent procession through the village streets, an event that draws numerous residents and holidaymakers each year.
In the days leading up to it, the offer is completed with performances by musical groups, folk dances, and children's activities, according to the programme released by the council. The intention is to provide a balance between the religious character of the festival and the festive atmosphere that characterises this time of year in the villages of the Serra de Tramuntana.
The festivities for the Nativity of the Virgin Mary are one of the most deeply rooted traditions in Banyalbufar, a municipality that sees its population multiply in summer and takes advantage of these celebrations to bid farewell to the summer season. The events will begin on Tuesday, September 1, and will extend until Tuesday, September 8, the main day of the festival.
The Banyalbufar Town Hall encourages participation in all scheduled activities and reminds that the complete poster with times and locations can be consulted on the council's official channels and at the usual information points in the municipality.
