The Ministry of Education has appointed Gabriel Juan Roca Marce as the director of CIFP Pere de Son Gall in Llucmajor for a one-year term, in an attempt to stabilise the centre following the resignation of the previous director due to allegations of workplace harassment.

Gabriel Juan Roca Marce has been appointed director of the integrated Vocational Training centre, as published in the Official Bulletin of the Balearic Islands (BOIB). His extraordinary term began on 1 July 2026 and will extend until 30 June 2027.
The appointment comes after Miquel Sastre Gómez submitted an irrevocable resignation on 10 July amidst a tense atmosphere at the institute. The Ministry of Education, led by Antoni Vera, sought an internal profile from the faculty to extinguish the fire.
A consensus profile within the faculty
According to sources from Educational Inspection, Roca's selection responds to the difficulty of finding a candidate who was not 'contaminated' by the previous management. Although his name was not among the initial predictions, the complaining sectors appreciate that Roca remained aloof from the controversies that led to the Ministry's intervention.
"Within the faculty, finding someone who was not contaminated and who had a good disposition to take charge of this situation was complicated," admit internal sources. The new director's main virtue is his distance from the core of the previous management, which has been received with relief by the complainants.
The origin of the crisis at the centre
CIFP Pere de Son Gall has been grappling with a crisis since last April, when Educational Inspection activated a comprehensive psychosocial evaluation. This measure was a consequence of multiple complaints from teachers and families accusing the previous management of alleged workplace harassment, abuse of power, and institutional mistreatment.
A medical report linking a teacher's anxiety-related sick leave to the work environment forced the Ministry to act. Testimonies described practices of arbitrary scrutiny, networks of nepotism to control permanent positions, and the alleged use of vulnerable Basic Vocational Training students to wear down critical teachers.
The psychosocial risk assessment concluded by exonerating Miquel Sastre's team from disciplinary responsibilities, but he chose to resign at the end of the school year. Now, the educational community hopes that Roca can restore calm to the centre.
The uncertainty of the new management team
Despite the appointment, tranquillity is not complete in the institute's hallways. The main concern of the affected groups is the composition of the rest of the organisational structure that will accompany Roca during this transitional year. The fear that conflictive figures from the previous head of studies manage to remain in key positions lingers.
"The reconciliation of the centre depends on a total renewal," say sources from the complainants. The new director faces the challenge of forming a team that generates trust and allows overcoming the fracture experienced.
For the residents of Llucmajor and families with children at the centre, Roca's appointment is a first step, although uncertainty about the immediate future of the institute persists. The Ministry has announced that it will closely monitor the centre's evolution and will support the new team in its management.
