The Urban Planning department of the Llucmajor Town Council has decreed the temporary halt of the urbanisation works on the Son Noguera industrial estate, known as Son Fosquet. This decision comes after reviewing all documentation from the file dating back to 2009, and following an investigation by the Guardia Civil into alleged irregularities.
The Llucmajor Town Council has ordered the temporary halt of the urbanisation works on the Son Noguera industrial estate, more commonly known as Son Fosquet. The decision, made by decree from the Urban Planning councillor, Inmaculada Pérez, is in response to the need to ensure the legal security of the file, according to municipal sources.
The technical services of the council have reviewed all the documentation provided by the promoting company of the estate. The licence was granted in 2009, meaning the file is now 17 years old, complicating the review process. Councillor Pérez requested that the technicians analyse all the documentation, including the recent adaptations submitted.
Concerns were raised last May when it became public that the Guardia Civil was investigating alleged irregularities in the provision of services for the estate. Opposition parties then demanded the files and brought the matter to the plenary session, where they called for the immediate halt of the expansion works of Son Fosquet. In the session on June 20, they presented a motion to this effect, which was rejected solely by the votes of the Popular Party.
Now, the halt comes by decree once the councillor has the technical report prepared after incorporating all the documentation registered by the company. "From the very beginning, technicians were asked to review all the documentation again, taking into account absolutely everything provided by the promoting company," stated Inmaculada Pérez. Once all the information was gathered, "the works have been decreed to be halted".
The councillor added that the delay in the halt was due to the desire for the decision to be "fully justified and supported from a technical and legal standpoint". According to the Town Council, although the works have the enabling title, municipal technicians believe that the adaptations presented require additional approval.
Pérez explained that there are two action plans: one approved in 2006 and another in 2009. Works were carried out in 2022 and resumed in 2025, hence the need for complete information on the entire process. In parallel, the Town Council also commissioned a study from the Fundació de Universitat i Empresa (FUEIB) to clarify whether the technical reports presented any "irregularities".
The temporary halt affects the urbanisation works of the estate, located in the Son Fosquet area, within the municipality of Llucmajor. Local residents and businesses will have to wait for the administrative situation to be resolved to know the future of the project. The Town Council has not specified any timelines for the resolution of the file.
