Calvià, 17 July 2026 - The Calvià Town Hall has unveiled a new promotional spot that seeks to establish the municipality as an important reference for the audiovisual sector. This initiative is part of the Year of Cinema in Calvià, a campaign aimed at boosting the audiovisual industry.

New campaign to attract the audiovisual sector

The video has been presented at prominent events, such as the inauguration of the Magaluf promenade on 27 June and at the Atlántida Film Fest. The aim is to attract producers and filmmakers, highlighting the most iconic sites in Calvià as high-value filming locations.

The spot showcases various emblematic places in the municipality, including Puig de Galatzó, Playa del Toro, the possessió of Son Vich Nou, the viewpoint of Illes Malgrats, and Puerto Portals. With a humorous and carefree approach, these spaces are suggested as ideal for audiovisual production.

Economic impact and related activities

Attracting film shoots represents a key opportunity to strengthen the local economy of Calvià. The audiovisual industry not only generates direct and indirect economic returns but also helps to diversify the tourism model. Hosting productions year-round helps to seasonally adjust tourism activity, attracting visitors outside of peak season.

The Calvià Film Office, part of the Tourism area of the Town Hall, is in contact with networks such as Spain Film Commission and Mallorca Film Commission, offering services to facilitate the development of productions. This department is dedicated to informing, advising, and providing personalised assistance to those interested in undertaking audiovisual work in the municipality.

Recently, Calvià has hosted several events such as a Day of AI & Cinema, the AI Movie Awards (AIMA) festival, and the international forum CONECTA Magaluf, which have placed the municipality at the centre of the debate on Artificial Intelligence in film production. Additionally, the 'Calvià, Film Set' route has been promoted, a tour to explore the beaches and landscapes that have been the backdrop for significant national and international productions.
