The Calvià Town Hall has initiated an informative campaign aimed at European Union citizens residing in the area, with the goal of facilitating their participation in the 2027 municipal elections.

The initiative provides clear information about the requirements that EU citizens must meet in order to exercise their right to vote. To participate, it is necessary to be at least 18 years old on the day of the elections, be registered in the Calvià Municipal Register, and have previously expressed their intention to vote in Spain. Interested parties have until December 30, 2026, to make this declaration.

The declaration of intent to vote must be made only once and will remain valid as long as the citizen maintains their residence in Spain, unless they request otherwise.

Through this campaign, the Town Hall aims to bring electoral information closer to the community and encourage their participation in decisions that affect the municipality. Juan Antonio Amengual highlighted the importance of political participation as a way to integrate into the community.

Citizens can carry out the procedure in person, without an appointment, at the Calvià Town Hall or at the Municipal Tax Office in Palmanova. There is also the option to complete the process online using the Cl@ve system on the Electronic Headquarters of the National Institute of Statistics (INE).

Other informative campaigns

Alongside this initiative, the Town Hall is preparing another campaign aimed at British residents and those from other non-EU countries that have bilateral voting reciprocity agreements with Spain.

The purpose of this informational action will be to ensure that all residents of the municipality who meet the reciprocity requirements are informed about the specific deadlines and procedures to actively participate in the 2027 municipal elections and the 2029 European elections, thus expanding democratic participation to the entire foreign population registered in Calvià.
