The municipal service, managed by ASDICA, will take place at Es Generador during August and now includes individuals aged 15 to 59, responding to family demand.
The Calvià Town Hall, through the Department of Social Services, has launched a new edition of the Summer Respite Classroom, which this year expands its coverage to individuals with intellectual disabilities aged between 15 and 59 years. The service, managed by the ASDICA association, will run throughout the month of August at Es Generador.
The main novelty compared to previous editions is the increase in the age range, as until now the program was aimed at young people aged 14 to 30 years. The expansion responds to the growing demand from families and seeks to provide support to a group that has previously been excluded from this municipal resource.
The Respite Classroom has a dual objective: to offer individuals with intellectual disabilities a space for leisure, social interaction, and participation through adapted activities, and to provide respite for caregiver families during the summer. The service is particularly useful for those who need to balance care with work commitments or for elderly relatives who require support during this time of year.
Activities will take place from Monday to Friday, from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM, with the possibility of extending the stay until 4:00 PM for those who opt for the meal service. The program promotes social participation, the maintenance of personal skills, and the enhancement of users' autonomy.
Access to the service will be granted to individuals registered and residing in Calvià who possess an official certificate of intellectual disability. Those requiring special care or individualised attention during activities will not be accommodated, as reported by the town council.
Registrations will be held at the ASDICA headquarters, located at Calle Falcó, 2, in Son Ferrer (Calvià). For better organisation, it is requested to call beforehand at 669 474 155. You can also write to asdica@asdica.com.
The registration fee is 90 euros for the entire month, 45 euros for a fortnight, and the meal service is charged separately. For shorter periods, consultation with the entity is required.
Interested individuals can also obtain information through the Department of Social Services of the Calvià Town Hall, located at the town hall building on Calle Julià Bujosa Sans, 1, by calling 971 139 173 or writing to calviasocial@calvia.com.
