The Calvià Town Hall has opened the registration period for the Initial Qualification Programs (PQI) for the 2026-2027 academic year. These programs are aimed at young people aged between 16 and 21 who have not obtained the Compulsory Secondary Education (ESO) certificate.
Program Details
Two free training pathways are offered: Hairdressing Assistant and Vehicle Electromechanical Maintenance Assistant. Both have a duration of 1,000 hours and are designed to facilitate the acquisition of professional skills and improve job prospects.
Upon completing the course, participants will be able to obtain the first level of Adult Secondary Education (ESPA) and a Level 1 Professional Certificate.
Training Modalities
The courses will take place from Monday to Friday, between 15 October 2026 and 17 July 2027, from 9:00 to 14:30 hours. The electromechanical program includes 920 hours of theory and 80 hours of practical work experience. The hairdressing program consists of 880 hours of training and 120 hours of internships in sector companies.
The training includes basic content on communication, social, scientific-technological fields, as well as occupational risk prevention and tutoring. In the case of electromechanics, students will learn about vehicle electricity, mechanics, machining, and welding, while the hairdressing module focuses on preparing the professional environment and techniques for washing and changing the shape and colour of hair.
These Initial Qualification Programs are funded by the Department of Education and Universities, representing a valuable alternative for young people interested in acquiring professional qualifications in a practical learning environment.
