Palma de Mallorca, 4 August 2026. The Ministry of the Sea and Water Cycle of the Govern has approved the use of the Pinada de Santa Ponça for the celebrations of the Rei en Jaume festivities. This resolution comes after a positive analysis of the recommendations from the Environmental Area of the Calvià Town Hall.
Commitment to the Environment and Traditions
The Calvià Town Hall has thus achieved a dual objective: to satisfy the demand of the collas, who sought to maintain camping in the usual area, and to ensure the protection of a space of high environmental value such as Santa Ponça beach.
The Mayor of Calvià, Juan Antonio Amengual, has stated that this resolution allows for clear delimitation of the camping perimeters and adequately protects the dune system of the area. He highlighted that they are pleased to respond to the collas and to meet environmental protection criteria. “Now we are focused on organising such fundamental festivities for Calvià,” he added.
Safety Regulations and Restricted Use
With the approval, the use of the Pinada will proceed similarly to previous years, always respecting the established safety regulations. Access will be restricted to the clearly defined central area, and a physical barrier will be implemented to protect areas of high environmental value.
Furthermore, the use of fire and combustion elements will be completely prohibited throughout the area. The installation of heavy furniture and structures that may compact the soil, such as stages, toilets, or inflatable structures, will also be avoided, and these must be located outside the forest mass.
