The Almería Provincial Council allocates over 500,000 euros from the PFEA to works in Gérgal, Nacimiento, Alcudia de Monteagud and Tahal, generating 3,500 jobs. The actions include the renovation of streets, water networks and public spaces.

The Agricultural Employment Promotion Programme (PFEA) promotes projects in the province of Almería that total more than half a million euros and generate 3,500 jobs, according to the Almería Provincial Council. The actions are being carried out in the municipalities of Gérgal, Nacimiento, Alcudia de Monteagud and Tahal, where streets, municipal networks, green spaces and public facilities are being improved.

Investment of 140,000 euros in Gérgal

In Gérgal, the PFEA has an investment of over 140,000 euros and generates more than a thousand jobs. On Sebastián Romero Street, in Las Alcubillas, 775 square meters of paving are being renewed and the water supply network is being improved. Additionally, environmental maintenance work is being carried out at numerous points in the municipality and its neighbourhoods, including street, square and path cleaning, park and garden maintenance, replacement of plant species and irrigation networks, and painting of buildings and urban furniture.

Nacimiento: 150,000 euros for pavements and maintenance

In Nacimiento, three projects are being promoted with a total investment of 150,000 euros and the generation of more than 1,100 jobs. One of the actions renovates the pavement of the access to the municipality from the AL-4403 road, improving pavement, pedestrian crossings, tree pits and urban furniture. Likewise, the PFEA jobs allow for environmental maintenance in 28 spaces within the municipal area and the Gilma neighbourhood, including parks and gardens.

Key institutional collaboration

The PFEA is an example of institutional collaboration that brings together SEPE, the Junta de Andalucía, the Provincial Council and the town councils, as highlighted by the PFEA deputy, Matilde Díaz. “The PFEA demonstrates that collaboration between administrations translates into real improvements for the towns. Each action allows for the renewal of a space, the improvement of a service or the recovery of an infrastructure while simultaneously creating employment and economic activity in the municipality itself,” she noted.

“We are talking about 3,500 jobs and half a million euros allocated to small municipalities, where these investments have a very significant impact and respond to the needs conveyed by the town councils themselves,” Díaz added.

The actions range from the renovation of streets and supply and sanitation networks to the maintenance of parks and gardens, the improvement of recreational areas or the rehabilitation of public buildings. The aim is that living in a small town does not mean having fewer opportunities or worse services.
