Two men faced off with large wooden planks in the middle of Paseo Mallorca, in front of numerous passers-by, including an elderly woman with a walker. The altercation, which occurred just a few metres from the Superior Police Headquarters, was recorded and shared on social media.
The Paseo Mallorca, one of the most central streets in Palma, was the scene this past weekend of a brutal brawl that left onlookers stunned. Two men, one of whom was of African descent, became embroiled in a violent confrontation using large wooden objects, in an incident that took place in broad daylight and just metres from the National Police Headquarters.
A provocation as the trigger
According to initial reports from witnesses, the conflict began with a derogatory comment that one of the individuals allegedly directed at the other’s partner. What started as a verbal exchange quickly escalated, and within seconds, both men launched into physical aggression with the heavy objects they were carrying.
The shocking images recorded by a passer-by show how the two opponents exchanged fierce blows, disregarding the presence of numerous pedestrians. At one point, one of them attempts to deliver a strong blow to his rival, but fails. Shortly after, the second man manages to wrest the plank away and strikes back at him forcefully, until both end up grappling and rolling on the ground.
Witness reactions: between shouting and helplessness
The scene, which lasted several minutes, attracted a crowd of onlookers who watched in astonishment as the blows continued. Among the witnesses was an elderly woman with a walker, who witnessed the dangerous exchange of blows without being able to look away. Some of those present, far from trying to stop the fight, encouraged the aggressors with shouts like “Go on, kill him!”, while others threatened to call the police: “Hey, I’m calling the police, stop!”, can be heard in the recording.
The proximity of the location to the National Police Headquarters has generated even more outrage among local residents, who wonder how such a serious altercation could occur without immediate intervention from the officers. In fact, Paseo Mallorca is a street frequently patrolled by both Local and National Police, making it even more surprising that the fight lasted so long.

In recent months, several street fights have been reported in the city centre, some of which have also been recorded and shared on social media.
