The first edition of the gastronomic route 'Cuines del Món a Palma' will take place from October 1 to 15 with menus priced at 25 euros. The organisation is looking for 50 international restaurants and registration is now open.
The Business Federation of Restaurant Owners of the Balearic Islands has launched the first edition of the gastronomic route Cuines del Món a Palma, an initiative aimed at revitalising the restaurant sector outside the high season. The event will be held from October 1 to 15, and interested restaurants can now register.
The call is directed at establishments in Palma specialising in international cuisines. Participation is free, but venues will need to undergo a selection process to ensure the quality of the offering. The organisation hopes to gather around 50 restaurants, which will offer a special menu at a unique price of 25 euros during the two weeks of the event.
A tool to de-seasonalise the sector
The initiative arrives at a crucial time for local restaurants, which traditionally experience a drop in activity after the end of the tourist season. Cuines del Món aims to attract both residents and visitors to discover the multicultural offerings of the city while distributing customer flow across different neighbourhoods, benefiting establishments that usually fall outside the more well-known gastronomic circuits.
According to the organisation, the project aims to strengthen Palma's culinary offerings and become a regular fixture in the autumn calendar. The Balearic capital is experiencing a particularly significant year in the gastronomic field, as it holds the title of Gastronomic Capital of the Mediterranean Islands in 2026, awarded by the Ibero-American Academy of Gastronomy.
Registrations open and institutional collaboration
Interested restaurants can formalise their registration through the official website of the initiative, where the participation guidelines can also be found. Once the selection process is closed, the platform will include the menus, the location of each restaurant, and an interactive map for users to plan their routes.
Cuines del Món a Palma is organised by the Business Federation of Restaurant Owners of the Balearic Islands and is supported by the Palma City Council, through the areas of Restoration and Interculturality and PalmaActiva, as well as Restaurant Mallorca CAEB and TasteMallorca.
The gastronomic route complements other municipal initiatives to de-seasonalise economic activity and highlight the cultural diversity of the Balearic capital. Residents of Palma will be able to enjoy a varied offering at a fixed price, providing an opportunity to taste cuisines from around the world without leaving the city.
