From October 1 to 15, nearly fifty international restaurants will offer special menus for 25 euros. The initiative, organised by FERIB, aims to boost the sector and de-seasonalise consumption.
The Balearic capital is preparing for a new culinary feast. From October 1 to 15, Palma will host the first edition of Cuines del Món, a gastronomic route that will bring together nearly fifty restaurants specialising in cuisines from around the world. The event, organised by the Federació Empresarial de Restauració de les Illes Balears (FERIB) in collaboration with TasteMallorca.es and supported by the Ajuntament de Palma through PalmaActiva, aims to become a new attraction for both residents and visitors.
Menus at 25 euros to travel the world without leaving Palma
During the 15 days of the route, participating establishments will offer special menus for 25 euros, excluding drinks and with dessert as an optional extra. Each restaurant will present a selection of representative dishes from its cuisine, allowing diners to embark on a journey through different countries and culinary traditions without leaving the city. The organisation highlights that Palma has an increasingly diverse gastronomic offering, with professionals and communities from numerous countries, and Cuines del Món aims to leverage this richness to introduce the public to new proposals.
The route will be decentralised, with restaurants spread across various neighbourhoods and areas of the capital. Participating establishments will maintain their usual lunch and dinner hours, encouraging economic activity to reach different parts of the city and not just concentrate in areas with high tourist traffic. The goal is to give visibility to restaurants that, in many cases, are outside the more well-known gastronomic circuits, according to sources from FERIB.
Boosting the hospitality sector and the local economy
For participating restaurants, Cuines del Món will provide a new promotional tool, allowing them to showcase their cuisine to new audiences, increase their visibility, and attract customers with a menu specifically designed for these dates. Participation will be free, although it will be subject to a prior selection and validation process to create a varied and representative offering. The initiative also aims to attract residents of Palma and the whole of Mallorca, as well as the international communities living in the city, inviting them to participate as advocates for the establishments and their culinary traditions.
In addition to promoting the offerings of the participating establishments, the organisation believes that the initiative will help generate economic activity in different areas of Palma, encouraging customer movement between neighbourhoods and expanding the impact of hospitality activity beyond traditional tourist concentration points. The proposal has a dual purpose: to strengthen the restaurant sector's activity during October and contribute to the de-seasonalisation of consumption, while also focusing on the cultural and gastronomic richness that coexists in the various neighbourhoods of the city.
An interactive website to plan the route
The organisation will launch the official website of Cuines del Món in Palma next week, which will serve as the central information point for the route. The platform will include a list of participating restaurants, their menus, locations, and contact details for each establishment. Additionally, it will feature an interactive map that will allow users to organise their route by areas of Palma or by types of cuisine, making it easier to explore the different proposals available from October 1 to 15. For Palma residents, this will be an opportunity to discover gastronomic gems in their own city at a fixed price, ideal for a midday getaway or a dinner among friends without the need for prior planning.
With this first edition, Cuines del Món in Palma aims to establish itself as a new reference gastronomic event in the Balearic capital, connecting hospitality, culture, diversity, and economic activity. Ultimately, the initiative seeks to reinforce Palma's positioning as an open, diverse city with an international gastronomic offering capable of attracting visitors year-round. Who knows, perhaps in the not-too-distant future, this route will become the little brother of other major gastronomic events on the island, with the same adventurous spirit but with feet on the ground (and fork on the table).
