From July 22 to 25, Capdepera will host a new edition of the Festival de les Arts al Carrer, featuring circus, dance, theatre, and parades. This year, the Plaça dels Mariners is added, and the Night of Multidisciplinary Art will debut.

The municipality of Capdepera is preparing to welcome a new edition of the Festival de les Arts al Carrer, which will take place from July 22 to 25. This event, which has already established itself as a cultural reference in Mallorca, will fill the streets with itinerant shows, circus, dance, parades, and theatre. This year, the organisation has expanded the programme and added new spaces to bring art to every corner of the municipality.

New Features in the Festival Programme

One of the main new features of this edition is the incorporation of the Plaça dels Mariners as a new performance space. Additionally, the closing show will move to Capdepera, aiming to alternate the different population centres of the municipality and reinforce the community dimension of the festival. Among the highlights are Filigrana Show, Embolic, and Statuesque, which will bring life and colour to the town.

Another major highlight this year is the Night of Multidisciplinary Art, which will take place on July 24. It will consist of a joint exhibition of sculpture and painting that will be open throughout the summer between Cala Lliteres and the Cap Vermell centre, featuring a strong representation of artists. The night will also include the itinerant performance of Batucap, which will travel along the Passeig Lliteres to the Centre Cap Vermell, and a contemporary dance piece with live music.

Statements from Local Officials

The mayor of Capdepera, Núria Garcia, highlighted that "Capdepera becomes an open space for art, participation, and local and international talent. This year we are expanding spaces, strengthening the programme, and incorporating new features that reflect our commitment to a vibrant, accessible, and shared culture." Meanwhile, the councillor for Culture, Yannick Wilken, emphasised that "this edition is particularly exciting because it incorporates new formats and brings the creative process of companies like Mecànica closer to the public. The festival is growing, diversifying, and continues to establish Capdepera as a cultural reference in Mallorca."

Impact on the Local and Tourist Fabric

The festival not only offers entertainment but also stimulates the local economy. Residents and tourists will be able to enjoy free outdoor shows, making Capdepera a cultural destination during those days. The initiative aims to encourage citizen participation and attract visitors, thus contributing to the de-seasonalisation of tourism. Local shops and restaurants also benefit from the increased influx of people.

For the locals, the festival represents an opportunity to enjoy art in a nearby and accessible environment. Many of the performances take place in squares and streets, allowing anyone to join the experience without needing to purchase tickets. The organisation has planned varied schedules so that both adults and children can participate.

With this new edition, Capdepera reaffirms its commitment to culture as a driver of development and social cohesion. The Festival de les Arts al Carrer has become an unmissable event of the Mallorcan summer, and this year promises to exceed all expectations. Attendees will be able to discover new forms of artistic expression and experience unique moments in a privileged setting.
