This Sunday, Spain and Argentina will compete for the World Cup. Mallorca is preparing with giant screens in Palma and in around twenty municipalities, with schedules, access, and parallel activities.
The World Cup fever has reached every corner of Mallorca. This Sunday, Spain and Argentina will compete for the title in a final that fuels two dreams: that of the Spanish fans, who hope to lift the World Cup 16 years later, and that of the Albiceleste supporters, who trust that the defending champions will retain the title. The match will kick off at 21:00 hours and can be followed at various points on the island through the giant screens set up for the occasion.
Son Fusteret, the epicentre in Palma
The venue at Son Fusteret will once again become the epicentre for fans in Palma to experience the much-anticipated match. It will open its doors at 18:00 hours with free access and will feature a new layout of spaces, a relocated shaded area, and an increase in the services of the EMT to facilitate public transport. The wait until the match begins will be enlivened by DJ Jaume Colombás.
Argentinian fan zone in Son Moix
The Argentinian fans will also have their space to enjoy the World Cup final. The Son Moix parking lot, located behind the athletics track next to the Palau d'Esports, will host a giant screen organised by the Palma City Council, with free access from 18:00 hours. There, the Albiceleste supporters can cheer on their team in a festive atmosphere.
Porto Pi and Ocimax, alternatives in the capital
The Porto Pi shopping centre will also once again host its 'fan zone', with a giant screen and activities starting from 18:00 hours, including children's entertainment, workshops, foosball, and live music. Another option to catch the match is the cinema halls of Ocimax Palma, which will broadcast the game on the big screen.
The Part Forana rallies for the final
The excitement for the Spain-Argentina match has led numerous municipalities in Mallorca to install giant screens in squares and public spaces, along with 'fan zones', DJs, concerts, and other activities to liven up the day. Some town councils have even rearranged their patron saint festivities to make room for the big event. In Alaró, the gathering will be at the Plaça de la Vila from 20:00 hours, featuring DJ Marieta before the match. In Alcúdia, the Passeig de la Mare de Déu de la Victòria will host the giant screen, and after the match, 'Val 9' will perform.
Other municipalities that have joined the initiative include Inca, Manacor, Calvià, Llucmajor, Marratxí, Santa Margalida, Sa Pobla, Pollença, Felanitx, Santanyí, Capdepera, Son Servera, Artà, Campos, Ses Salines, and Bunyola. In each of these locations, the screens will be set up in main squares or municipal venues, with schedules typically starting between 19:00 and 20:00 hours to create a festive atmosphere beforehand.
For those who prefer to watch the match at home, all local and national television channels will offer the broadcast live. The local police in several municipalities have announced special traffic and security measures for the areas where fans will gather. It is recommended to arrive early, use public transport, and avoid driving in urban centres.
Fans who still do not have plans are encouraged to check their town hall's website or social media to find out the exact location of the nearest screen. The match is on Sunday at 21:00 hours, but the festivities will kick off much earlier across the island.
