The National Police have arrested a teenager in Palma accused of two violent robberies and breaking into a home. The incidents occurred on Aragó street and in the Es Rafal neighbourhood.
Officers from the National Police have detained a minor in Palma for his alleged involvement in two violent robberies and a breaking and entering. The teenager, who acted with another young man who has not yet been located, assaulted a man to steal a chain and another minor to take his mobile phone. The incidents took place on Aragó street and in a park in the Es Rafal neighbourhood.
Assault on Aragó street
Last Wednesday, around half past ten in the morning, a man was assaulted on the central Aragó street in Palma. A witness alerted the Police that two minors had snatched the victim's belongings and fled. The victim received a punch and had to be treated at a medical centre.
The patrol gathered descriptions of the assailants and disseminated them to other units. One of them located a young man in the La Soledad neighbourhood. Upon noticing the police presence, the suspect fled and entered a building.
Breaking and entering and arrest
Shortly after, a woman came out onto one of the balconies of the building calling for help. She explained to the officers that someone had knocked on her door and, upon opening it thinking it was her neighbour, she found an unknown person. The young man told her that he was being chased and entered her home without permission, leaving her blocked and terrified.
The police found the accused in the kitchen. He admitted to having committed the robbery on Aragó street with a friend and claimed that he had sold the stolen jewellery. He had 300 euros in cash in his pocket, which were seized. The minor was arrested for violent robbery and breaking and entering.
Second robbery in Es Rafal
The Judicial Police Group of the Central Police Station took over the investigation and confirmed that the minor was being sought for another violent robbery committed on April 21. On that occasion, two young men approached a minor in a park in the Es Rafal neighbourhood, punched him, threw him to the ground, and snatched his mobile phone.
The investigation remains open to locate the second suspect. The detained minor has been placed at the disposal of the Juvenile Prosecutor's Office. Residents in the affected area, especially on Aragó street and in Es Rafal, are concerned about the wave of violent robberies affecting the city. The National Police recommends taking extra precautions and reporting any suspicious activity.
