The Llucmajor Town Council will implement traffic cuts in various coastal areas on August 12 for the eclipse, which is expected to attract thousands of visitors. s'Arenal, Son Verí, and Cala Blava will have controlled access.
On August 12, 2026, Llucmajor will become one of the world's key observation points for the solar eclipse, a phenomenon expected to draw a large influx of people, especially to the municipality's coastal areas. To ensure the safety of residents and visitors and to allow emergency services to operate without obstacles, the Llucmajor Town Council has established traffic restrictions in different areas throughout the day.
The council has designed a special plan that will mainly affect the coastline, from the Sanctuary of Gràcia to Tolleric. The measures include access cuts, vehicle controls, and parking limitations, aiming to prevent congestion and ensure the mobility of essential services.
Areas with access restrictions
At the Sanctuary of Gràcia, the usual access points from the Camí Vell de Gràcia and the Ma-5018 will be closed. This area, located at a high point, is one of the most popular natural viewpoints for such events.
In s'Arenal, from 4:00 PM onwards, only emergency services, public transport, residents of s'Arenal and Son Verí (with accreditation), property owners (with proof), local workers (with justification), and tourists with parking reservations at local hotels will be allowed access. The streets Berga, Cabrera, and Terral will have restricted access from Dragonera, and entry to garages between Dragonera and Formentera will be permitted.
Regarding Son Verí, s'Arenal, and Recalde Street, Recalde Street will remain closed from the Ma-6014 to Cedre, except for residents and emergencies. Baladre Street will be the control point for residents, public transport, workers, and tourists with parking reservations. It will also be the access point for emergencies and prior appointments at the Son Verí Hospital.
In Cala Blava and Bellavista, access via the Camí d'Enderrocat will be controlled, allowing passage for emergencies, residents, public transport, property owners, workers, and tourists with reservations at the Cap Rocat hotel.
In Maioris, Puig de Ros, Sa Torre, Bahía Azul, and Bahía Grande, to avoid congestion, access will only be permitted via Maioris, Puig de Ros, and Sa Torre. Emergency services, residents, public transport, property owners, workers, and tourists with hotel reservations in Puig de Ros will be allowed through. The parking area at Sa Pedrera de la Seu and the descent to the Badia Blava viewpoint will be closed when full. In Bahía Azul and Bahía Grande, only emergency services will be allowed access.
In Tolleric, access will be restricted solely to emergencies, residents, public transport, property owners, workers, and tourists with reservations at local hotels.
Additionally, individuals with reservations at hospitality establishments in the municipality will be allowed unrestricted access.
Recommendations for residents and visitors
The Llucmajor Town Council recommends staying informed through social media and local media, avoiding the use of private vehicles unless absolutely necessary, and prioritising public transport. It is also advised to inform any planned visitors of the existing restrictions and to schedule supplies and deliveries for the morning.
These measures will directly affect the daily lives of residents in coastal areas, who will need to show documentation proving their status to access their homes. Local workers will also need to carry proof of their employment.
Hotel chains, businesses, restaurants, and neighbourhood associations will be directly informed of these measures. Aqualand and Town Council staff will also receive the relevant communication.
