The Manacor Town Council, through the SAM, will start monthly billing for the water service from August. The change, which does not alter the rates, will initially affect 6,642 contracts thanks to the digitalisation of the meters.
The SAM, the municipal water company of Manacor, will begin monthly billing for the service next August, replacing the current bimonthly system. The change, which will be implemented gradually, affects a total of 11,962 supply contracts, of which 10,608 correspond to the urban area of Manacor and 1,354 to Cala Murada.
In the first phase, 6,642 contracts will receive the monthly bill starting in August, corresponding to the consumption of July. This group includes all subscribers from Cala Murada and a portion from Manacor. The remaining 5,320 contracts will maintain bimonthly billing during August and will join the new system in September.
The implementation of digital meters, which allow remote readings and more accurate data, is key to this change. According to sources from the SAM, the technology enables billing for specific consumption periods with greater accuracy, providing more transparent information to users.
The rates remain unchanged with the new system. Subscribers will continue to pay only for actual consumption, but will now receive a bill every month instead of every two months. This facilitates more detailed tracking of expenses and avoids consumption accumulations.
Coinciding with the change, the SAM has designed a new, more visual and easy-to-understand bill model. The format presents information in an orderly manner, with clearly identifiable concepts, so that users can easily check their consumption.
