The Son Macià 2026 festival will be held from July 31 to August 15 with a varied programme that includes traditional, sports, cultural, and musical events.
The Manacor district of Son Macià is preparing to enjoy two weeks of festivities. This year's programme, presented on Monday by the president of the Neighbourhood Association, Bel Maria Pascual; designer Antoni Febrer; the mayor of Manacor, Miquel Oliver; and the delegate for Festivals, Maria del Mar Nicolau, runs from July 31 to August 15 and offers activities for all audiences.
The inaugural proclamation will take place on Friday, July 31 at 21:30, led by Miquel Guinei, with the presence of the emblematic Macià and Maciana and the Colla de Xeremiers i Fabioleres de Son Macià. After the proclamation, the Banda de Música de Manacor will perform, and there will be a tasting of sweet and savoury coques.
The design of the programme, once again by Antoni Febrer, uses the solar eclipse occurring next August as a common thread, with the slogan “Absolutely nothing eclipses Son Macià,” combining humour, critique, and references to current events. Phrases like “And if it’s cloudy or is there a xalocot?” invite reflection and smiles.
Highlighted activities include children's workshops, traditional games, and a family foam party. In the sports arena, the IV Milla Macianera, a 3x3 basketball tournament, petanque, clay pigeon shooting, and the traditional macianera football match will be held, along with the Festa Pagesa.
Popular culture will be represented with bot dances led by Jai de sa Barraqueta and Guitarró Esqueixat, gymnastics demonstrations, line dancing, and dance. There will also be a horabauxa and a grand revelry featuring performances by groups such as The Margarettes, 4L, Aftersuns, and DJ Lozano.
One of the most emblematic events will be the XL Fira de Son Macià, on Friday, August 14, which will include the parade of Gegants i Gegantons with the participation of the Gegants de Manacor and the Colla de Xeremiers i Fabioleres de Son Macià.
The main day, Saturday, August 15, will begin with the solemn mass of the Mare de Déu Assumpta, attended by Macià and Maciana, followed by a tribute to people over 70 years old. In the evening, the comedy “Sa fosca de s’univers,” performed by Argelagues Teatre, will provide a fresh and sweet finale to the festivities.
Both the neighbourhood association and the mayor and the delegate for Festivals expressed their gratitude for the involvement of neighbours, entities, and volunteers who make these festivities possible, and invited everyone to enjoy them with respect, coexistence, and joy.
