The XIX Diada d'Agricultura Ecològica transformed Porreres into a large night fair with 50 exhibitors, tastings, and music. The 'Redonet Mediterrani' from Bon Bessó won the Eco Product of the Year 2026 award.

The centre of Porreres became a hive of activity on the night of 11th July during the XIX Diada d'Agricultura Ecològica, an event that brought together fifty exhibitors to showcase the best of Balearic organic production. Organised by APAEMA and the Porreres Town Hall, the event offered tastings, family activities, and live music from 7:00 PM until midnight, all under the banner of sustainability and responsible consumption.

The extreme heat of the afternoon delayed the massive influx of the public, which did not arrive until after 8:30 or 9:00 PM, when temperatures dropped and the atmosphere became livelier. According to sources from the organisation, attendance grew as night fell, achieving very active participation in the various spaces of the fair.

A prize that smells of tradition and innovation

One of the most anticipated moments was the presentation of the Eco Product of the Year 2026 award, which this year went to the ‘Redonet Mediterrani’, a creation from the company Bon Bessó. The jury highlighted its quality, innovation, and territorial roots, as well as its commitment to organic production. Eight products from the Balearics competed, including preserves, biscuits, wine, and olive oil.

The winning product, a vegetable spread made from figs and spices, was described by tasters as "an explosion of Mediterranean flavours that connects with the island's agricultural tradition." The award was presented on the main stage, in front of an enthusiastic audience that applauded the initiative to support local and organic production.

20 years of APAEMA: a celebration with a taste of the future

This year's edition had a special significance, as it coincided with the 20th anniversary of APAEMA, the association that promotes organic agriculture in Mallorca. During the Diada, the entity highlighted two decades of work in defence of the territory and the agricultural sector, reaffirming its commitment to a more sustainable food model.

“The Diada has consolidated itself as the main event of the Balearic agroecological sector,” said sources from APAEMA, who thanked the support of institutions and collaborating entities. The fair was not just a market, but also a meeting space between producers and consumers, with social and environmental entities and land stewardship projects.

The change of dates, from spring to summer, was a risky bet that, despite the initial heat, turned out to be a success. The organisation appreciated the good reception of the new summer format and does not rule out repeating it in future editions. For the residents of Porreres, the Diada is already an unmissable event that they feel is their own.

The fair closed with a concert that capped off a night dedicated to ecology, gastronomy, and community. Attendees were able to take home top-quality organic products, and many are already looking forward to the next edition with excitement.
